Hyrox rewards a blend of endurance, strength and the ability to run while fatigued. You don't need to be elite to start — you need a consistent, well-rounded plan. Here's how to train for Hyrox.
1. Build your running base
Running is half of a Hyrox race. Aim for 2–3 runs a week: one easy longer run, one interval session (e.g. 4–6 x 400–800 m), and optionally one steady tempo run. This builds the aerobic engine you'll rely on across all 8 km.
2. Train the 8 movements
Get comfortable with the station movements — sled push/pull, wall balls, burpee broad jumps, lunges, SkiErg, rowing and farmers carry. Two strength/functional sessions a week covering these will carry you a long way.
3. Practise "compromised running"
The hardest part of Hyrox is running after a station, when your legs are heavy. Train it directly: alternate short runs with station work (for example, 400 m run + 20 wall balls, repeated). This one skill separates good times from great ones.
4. A simple weekly structure
- Mon — Strength + stations
- Tue — Intervals (running)
- Wed — Rest or easy mobility
- Thu — Compromised-running circuit
- Fri — Strength + stations
- Sat — Long easy run
- Sun — Rest
5. Do a simulation before race day
Nothing prepares you like a full run-through. Human Care runs Hyrox simulations in Ahmedabad with real stations and timing — the perfect dress rehearsal. Find an upcoming event and put your training to the test.
